Where's the chalkboard wall?! Why aren't you sequestered in your home in the Arctic Tundra of Minnesota?! There's no chalkboard wall for this bumpdate because Jason and I were in Florida on vacation for our babymoon! This was the last vacation we'll go on as just the two of us...that's crazy to think about! It was also kind of a belated anniversary trip since I was not feeling well on our actual anniversary back in August. (Early pregnancy probs) It worked out nice to go on vacation now though because it got us away from the snow for an entire week! It was awesome being in 80 degree weather for a change (: The pictures above were taken in Key West, Florida and we stayed in the Pompano Beach area with Jason's cousin and his wife while we were there. (: We had so much fun! All I've been saying since we got back is, "So, when are we moving to Florida?" Haha Seriouslysosickofcoldandsnowandmosquitoeswhenitswarmyouhavenoidea
28 WEEK INTERVIEW
How far along?
Well, currently I'm 29 weeks and 3 days, but all the info in this post will be from from when I was 28 weeks (with the exception of the number of days until my next appointment) (:
And at 28 weeks, I officially moved into the third trimester! Bring on the pain and uncomfortableness! Ok but really though. Not comfortable haha
Baby's size?
Baby is 14 and 3/4 inches long and 2 and 1/4 pounds!
Days until next doc appointment?
Currently, 14 days!
Total weight gain?
19 pounds
Maternity clothes?
My newest venture into maternity clothes has been the use of compression socks. Oh yeaaaaaaaaah! I call them my granny socks. Because they make me look like a granny. And they make me look Amish. Especially that one time when I wore them to the beach on our vacation. I mean, literally, to the average person I probably did look Amish haha
I haven't had any unsightly veins show up yet, but with all the flying time from here to Florida, I really didn't want to risk anything so I wear them when I know I'll be sitting for an extended period of time.
Stretch marks?
None!
Sleep:
I slept pretty well on our trip, but I don't think I ever got used to the time change. Florida is only an hour ahead of us, but that didn't stop me from not being able to fall asleep until the usual time for back home. Which meant staying up late and waking up late. Hopefully it didn't seem like I was sleeping in like a teenager haha. But I slept well and that's what counts! (:
Best moment this week:
Um, everything about Florida was the best moment for this week! It was so awesome being able to walk outside with flip flops and t-shirts on, in January. I know all the people back home in California cannot relate, but you guys. It takes 15 minutes to get all your layers on when it's stinking negative 30-some degrees outside with wind. Warm weather is such a time saver and you guys don't even know it. Up here, we're talking leggings, then pants, a pair of socks or two, honking huge snow boots, tank top, shirt, sweater, and then your Michelin Marshmallow Man jacket, then mittens and a hat if you're intent on keeping your extremities. Then every time you go inside a building you have to take off about half of these layers to keep from melting and oh! Gotta put them all back on again once you go back outside. Florida's like, just throw on any old pair of shorts and flip flops in stinking January and you're good to go.
Also, SWIMMING. I've always loved swimming and have always practically lived in the water, so moving to Minnesota has been hard on me for that. There isn't even a public swimming pool where we live as far as I know. I'm not exactly sure how people go about life year in and year out like this up here, but they do. Also, swimming while pregnant is the bees knees. It takes off all the weight from your back and makes everything so much better. Also, swimming in January. 'Nuff said.
Time to move to Florida.
*edit: I just saw in the town newspaper that there's some kind of scheduled time for public swimming at the local high school but I haven't been able to find much info about it. If it's true, I will be there every time it's open. Every. single. time.
Movement:
One of these days I'm certain I'll be in a public place and an innocent bystander will see my belly move and their eyes will fall out of their head.
Food cravings:
Frozen yogurt was definitely a thing on our vacation.
Anything make you queasy or sick?
There was this one time when my husband, mastermind of all the weirdest condiment combinations, (who thought my idea of a tater-tot grilled cheese sandwich was gross) put SALSA on his buttered toast.
I hadn't felt nauseous since I was 14 weeks along, but I did then.
I don't feel so good.
Have you started to show yet?
I'm going to go ahead and say yes. Between all the stares I got at the airport and all the instances of people somehow knowing I was pregnant without me saying a word about it, I'm guessing people are starting to figure out my secret.
Exhibit A: Because we are crazy, and because there are literally no stores except K-Mart where we live, we actually did buy some baby things while we were in Florida. We flew the stuff back with us after packing it along with our luggage as if Tetris is a learned life skill. Anyway, we were in Target looking for a baby bouncer (Tetris packing skill level 40: reached) and the lady we asked about it had been working nearby another Target employee. The other employee said, "That's a cute baby bump."
Exhibit B: While taking the 28 week bumpdate pictures on the beach (with lots of people around), a couple walked by and the lady said, "I don't want to get in your picture, but congratulations! Early April (due date)?" I told her I'm due in late March and she said congrats again. I'm sure holding up the "28 weeks" sign helped give it away, but it could have been 28 weeks of something else and I could have been just wearing a soccer ball under my shirt. You really never know.
Exhibit C: While stopped at a red light, a man approached our car advertising his organization and said "Hey, how's the baby doing?"
Exhibit D: While getting Chinese food one evening, I couldn't help but notice that the lady taking our order was pregnant. This is because she was both rubbing her belly, waddling, and sticking it all way out there simultaneously as if she wanted me to notice and say something to her about it because she noticed that I too, am pregnant. Being someone who doesn't really know how to work through such situations, I didn't say anything.
I simply thought, "You go be with Ann."
Exhibit E: On our way back home, I didn't even have to ask to not go through the huge security imaging thingy ma-bob and opt for a pat down instead. I didn't even have to say anything about being pregnant! The TSA agent said I could get in line for the metal detector instead so that I wouldn't have to worry about the baby. Which was really awesome, by the way. (: I didn't even have to have a pat down!
Missing anything?
Nope!
Gender:
Labor signs?
None!
Belly button:
Definitely still an innie, but the top half of my belly button is almost starting to become flat!
Wedding rings on or off?
Still on!
Happy or moody most of the time?
Couldn't have been happier (for the most part!) We had an awesome week!
Weekly symptoms:
Very itchy bumps on my legs, can't really bend over to pick things up (squats all day), lots of pee trips, rhinitis of pregnancy (nosebleeds), fatigue from standing/doing too much in one stretch, leg cramps, numbness in one leg for extended periods of time (pins and needles kind of numbness).
Looking forward to:
While on our vacation I think the only thing I was looking forward to was never going home back to the snow and cold but unfortunately that happened and we're home now hahaha
